The Process Model

Process models are essential when you need to answer questions such as:

“When we receive a customer order how do we get to the situation where the product has been delivered and the customer has paid us in full?”

“When we have a staff vacancy, what Functions must we carry out and in what in what sequence in order to hire a new employee and end up with that employee in post?”

Example of a simple Process Model

The ‘event’ that starts a Process is called a Trigger.  Each of the steps in a process is (must be) a Function from the Function Catalogue.  The event that ends the Process is called an Outcome.  There are two types of outcome: Preferred and Non-Preferred.
